If Lewis Carroll had written porn, it might have looked something like this. Sweet and innocent Ivy (Lexus) is staying the summer with her Aunt Harriet (Jeanna Fine). Dear auntie, who slips her naughty magazines inspiring strange new sensations, is a man-hater to the core. Or is she? After warning Ivy to avoid the gardener (Vince Vouyer) and focus on vibratory pleasures instead, auntie demands that he milk, furrow and plow her. It's a porn flick, so of course, he complies —but his heart is with Ivy as hers is with him. Vouyer's character, like the average Hollywood gardener, owns a beautiful trained falcon, who makes a number of atmospheric cameo appearances.
Desperate to escape her wicked aunt's harassment, Ivy prays for a place to hide and fins it in the eternally horny and surreal landscape of Babylon. Here she discovers beautiful people in French Regency-inspired clothing living out their every carnal imagining. Her own budding sexuality and devoted love for Robert (yes, the gardener has a name) begins to bloom and she hungrily watches (and revels in) as much sexual pleasure as possible in the hopes of sharing it with her sweet boy when she returns to the Real World.
Before this can happen, she encounters adventures and peril. And lots of sex, of course. After all, this is porn.
Fans of fairy tales, the surreal, costumes, camp and (dare I write the words?) good plot and acting will find Babylon refreshingly intelligent and irreverent. The script and acting are just over-the-top enough to keep things light and moving forward. costuming and sets are lush, atmospheric and extremely erotic. Music and credits are well done, non-intrusive and exceptionally professional. The world of Babylon is peopled with characters in the tradition of pulp novels and flamboyant Victorian children's illustrations. The delicacy of beautiful flowers making love to one another is a pleasant contrast to Jeanna's characterization of the brash aunt, the cartoonishly horrific. "Dr. Balthazar" and Candy Apples' sexually ferocious Royal Bitch Executioner. Yet all characters seem perfectly at home in Babylon.
But what about the sex? Chloe is an inspiration to us all an provides viewers with a well-shot and impressive d.p.; Tony Tedeschi grimaces ferociously; Jeanna is obsessively dominant; Vince is desirable; and Dee is serenely sensuous and infinitely erotic. There's a good balance of het and girl/girl scenes, with an outstanding seduction scene between Dee and Lexus.
Faults? This video does have them. The Falcon Man/Robert (Vince Vouyer), a pivotal Babylon character, simply is not interesting. And Lexus, as lovely as she is, is not particularly convincing as a wide-eyed innocent —although she does the best she possibly can. There's just something about a platinum blonde with amazing tits running around in a silver bikini that doesn't inspire thoughts of virginity. But she's beautiful when she sexes and that's pretty darn important.
This video is not going to appeal to everyone. Those who like their sex without the romantic touches will be impatient. Steady consumption of videos like this could induce disabling hallucinations, but the average viewer probably maintains a balanced video selection diet and so will be in no danger. A lot of imagination and talent went into the creation and production of this video and it shows. Babylon, and video like it, prove that it's a lie to claim that those involved with porn have no real talent or that artistic merit and graphic sex cannot blend successfully. This is adult video done right.
