This horny vampire vid receives its positive rating for effort. The writer/director had a vision, albeit a skewed one, and along with some talented craftsmen, he say it through. Awash in production value, Succubus basically resembles the mainstream "so-gorgeous-it-almost-hurts" vampire flick The Hunger... but its Rubik's Cube plot might confuse even the grand maestro of non sequiturs himself, Ed Wood.

Jill Kelly narrates a lugubrious tale which somehow weaves her quest for self-realization ("Who am I? What am I doing here?") with a trippy backstory about her vampire/rock star father, a lecture from a Moral Majority clone organization, topless tennis lessons, and a pair of gravediggers so dumb they make Burke and Hare look like Leopold and Loeb by comparison.

Speaking of stiff, the sex is frequent and always picturesque, for viewers who enjoy fetish-clad performers and the occasional corpse in the background... or that old chestnut, the erotic vampire attack in the girl's locker room. In slow motion, all of it. Whatever passion may have existed in the raw footage is practically undone by layers of flashy post-production FX.
