"I am so proud of you," stepdad Tommy Gunn tells bridal-gowned Vanna Bardot as he chauffeurs her to her wedding. She's having second thoughts, evidenced by her pensive, "I don’t want to leave here ... I don’t want to leave you," and leaning forward from the back seat to hug him as he drives. "Let's talk this over at home," he says, and a jumpcut later he's in his shirtsleeves, tie loosened, clinking Champagne glasses with Bardot as she sits on the couch, gown off, in lingerie. She stammers out that her fiancé reminds her of Gunn and when he asks, "Is there anything I can do to help?" she has an idea. "Maybe I should just get it out of my system ... you know ... fuck." The scene that follows has a improvised quickie feeling.

Ryan Mclane is impressed by the cookies Gabriela Lopez just pulled out of the oven, and when he says, "You cook better than your mom," she enumerates the other ways she's better than mom—and offers to show him one more way. By scene's end, Mclane agrees.

Late at night, Mike Mancini, undressing for bed, apologetically tells his wife that he's sorry he works late, and is surprised when he finds stepdaughter Alicia Williams nude in the bed. She matter-of-factly tells him that mom packed her bags when she heard that he was working late, and he's going to be her ex-stepfather, and, "You want this as much as I do," as she pulls him to the bed.

Closer has Ramon Nomar lecturing stepdaughter Naomi Swann about her no-good boyfriend: "Me no gusta ... I just don't like him." She walks away from Nomar—and locks the bedroom door "in case mom comes back from her tennis match early." She breezily agrees that the boyfriend is no good ("It's all over between us") and points out that she knows why Nomar doesn't want her dating any other boy. "I know what I want. It's just you and me." 

Familiar material is enhanced by logical set-up dialogue and sincere performances, and well-lit and well-shot videography by Ralph Parfait and Tippy Shotwell. Recommended for an active taboo relations section.
