There's usually something exciting about transvestites getting it on with real women. Something about the gender blending makes it hedonistic to watch for even the casual fan. Unfortunately, Transaholics has taken that experience and almost entirely removed the heat from it altogether, leaving a very strange tape in its place.
There's just no spark here, from the by-the-numbers sex to the 1989-era cool jazz soundtrack, you know you're in for a large dose of nothing special almost form the very beginning. There is dialogue on the tape, but it's inaudible, seemingly by design, which only further serves to alienate the viewer from the feature. There's just nothing that stands out here whatsoever, from the drab performances (the actors seem to have been forced or coerced to do the feature somehow, which doesn't seem to sit well with their attitudes) to the sloppy production (the live sound mix with the soundtrack is abysmal), the whole thing just seems largely uninspired, which is likely how you'll feel while watching it.
An extra feature on the DVD is a DVD-ROM bonus complete feature that, while being a fine idea, is largely uninspired as well, which, again, is a shame.
