Genre | Parody |
This falls somewhere between parody and possibly documentary, as James Bartholet portrays the same character in all four scenes, who is referred to as either Mr. Weinstein or Harvey. That, and the still photo of the real Harvey Weinstein that appears during the ending credits, pretty much cements the intended identity.
Bartholet, to his credit, certainly looks the part and easily carries the role of a rich Hollywood mega-producer whose apparent goal is simply to use his powerful position to bed any girl any time and in an uncaring manner. To this end he screws local news anchor Misty Stone—and pops on a bush in a nearby potted plant rather than across her bush; does aspiring actress Kat Dior following his brief bathrobed request for a shoulder massage; and makes other power play excuses to get laid.
However, aside from the short running time and frankly lacking technical values, this has a tired, dreary, muddied look about it that an extra light and more contrast could certainly improve. If the idea was to make it dramatic, it takes more than just dark shadows. The cover labels this as “suspense porn,” but, once past the Weinstein theme, it is really just a casting couch-type deal.
