On the one hand, the sexual content here leaves a great deal to be desired - the bone-stashing is stagy and stiff, and even when it turns anal (especially then, in fact) is remarkably spiritless. On the other hand, there is a surreal buoyancy to this mostly incomprehensible period-piece, which centers upon the Russian Revolution. Amidst the flurry of vintage costumes, weapons and lots of opaque political and historical references, the sense one has in watching this Technicolor train wreck is of Russian Communism's last generation tossing an immense, capitalistic obscene gesture at Marx, Stalin and Lenin who is represented here in a non-sex role by a dead-ringer look-alike. Whether the average porn fan will appreciate these qualities is doubtful however, and there is much hotter smut hailing from the former Evil Empire these days.
