Reviews

Last year, Axel Braun created an out-and-out sensation of an adult movie—an increasing rarity these days—in the form of Suicide Squad XXX, which did a fairly handy job of outshining its horribly panned mainstream counterpart.

Never one to shy away from attempting to top himself, Braun chose for his big tentpole project of 2017 to tackle another, considerably more core group of superheroes from the DC universe—namely the Justice League, whose big-screen outing this fall has been met with similar critical lambasting (as of this writing, it sits at an abysmal 40 percent on Rotten Tomatoes). It’s almost like DC is trying to make it easy for Braun to show them up.

Either way, porn’s supreme parody maestro has little problem accomplishing just that, delivering as sweeping, rollicking and utterly fun-packed a comic book sex flick as you could ever hope to see.

This Justice League has a slightly different (and arguably more fan-friendly) makeup than Zack Snyder’s: In place of Aquaman and Cyborg, we get the Green Lantern and Batwoman—respectively played with show-stealing bravado by Xander Corvus and Charlotte Stokely. In fact, Stokely owns her role so completely that Braun is currently putting together a standalone Batwoman feature that will also serve as his first-ever all-girl superhero parody.

Every bit as memorable, meanwhile, are Tyler Nixon as the Flash and Romi Rain as Wonder Woman. And in a very cool crossing of porn worlds, Dana Vespoli makes a cameo as the title character from her own 2016 drama Lefty (from Sweetheart Video), here giving boxing instruction (and hinted-at lesbian love) to Diana Prince/Wonder Woman.

Later, Wonder Woman has a quite explicitly depicted lesbian throw-down with Batwoman—but her sexuality seems to be just as fluid as her dexterity with the Lasso of Truth, abundantly demonstrated by her opening anal bout in the boxing ring opposite Green Lantern, and a colorful climactic gangbang in which Lantern is joined by Batman and Flash—all fully suited up—in stuffing her Wonder Holes.

Fans will be richly rewarded for picking up the two-disc JLX set, which in addition to an array of great extras comes packaged with an entire stack of character cards and a movie poster.

There’s plenty more to be said about this monster-scale release, but in short, like all of Axel Braun’s major productions, it’s in a League of its own.
