We don't know where Metro found director Peter Muëller, but he'd make an excellent candidate for cloning. His first Lust In Paradise, reviewed in our May issue, garnered a Spotlight Pick as well, and Muëller seems well on his way to becoming the heir apparent to Philip Mond (of Zazel fame).
Lust In Paradise II is another blockbuster, featuring top-notch camerawork by Ernest Key (put him down for a videography pre-nom) as well as first-class editing by Yvonne DaSilva, another nom-worthy candidate.
But most of the credit must go to Muëller himself, who seems to have a knack for getting the most out of his performers. Whether it's RayVeness doing a dance for partner Todd Alexander (which progresses, in its own sweet time, to reverse cowgirl and mish on the veranda), or Kurious and Herschel Savage pausing to glance at each other as they pass on a walkway, leading to his imagination running wild with nipple biting, horsie sex against a tree and reverse cowgirl on the steps - all in a fraction of a second real-time.
But even though Mexico is a lush location all by itself - this and Part I were shot during Metro's "XXX-Treme Vacation" down there last year - Muëller still manages to dazzle the viewer with, say, a boat ride up an overgrown river, with Violet Love and Caroline Pierce pleasuring each other and Brick Majors as their small motorboat passes under caressing tree branches.
And then there's the thrill of public sex, as when McKayla and Gina Ryder, riding nude along a deserted beach, lean toward each other from their mounts for a tender kiss. Or Bridgett Kerkove and Tina Cherry sunning themselves by the hotel pool, when suntan oil applied by Herschel leads to cowgirl and anal doggie action in full view of hotel guests.
There's no two ways about it: Lust In Paradise II is one of the finest, hottest, most artistic projects we've seen in quite a while, and it well deserves its pre-nom for Best All-Sex Video, as does Muëller for Best Director.
