Reviews

Johnny Matrix and Sunshine have tried to do something very original on DVD with limited success. Executive Mission, which takes its cue from Mission: Impossible inonly the most facile ways, is billed as an interactive DVD game; but that's only true in some very basic ways. Before most of the sex scenes, the viewer is given a few simple choices to make for the main character. Some of these choices lead to extraneous sex scenes or dead ends, while others lead to sex scenes that actually further the tissue-thin plot.

Unfortunately, these brief instances of interactivity are so simplistic and far apart that they serve more as an obstacle to the sex than a fun way to find it. It seems much more likely that viewers will simply grow tired of returning to the main menu and entering the passcodes that let you jump back in at the top of the last scene you found. Above all, players are certain to lose their patience with the monotonous, cheesy guitar lick that serves as our hero's theme, and as a result, plays — loudly— every five or six minutes.

On the plus side, the video is razor-sharp; the alternate angles are true, real-time matching footage; and the sex scenes, while not likely to win any awards or set fires, are all serviceable.
