Enough words have been printed vilifying Caligula to fill a small dictionary. Rather than reprint any of them here, let's just say that the 20 years since its initial release haven't done much to help what is indisputably one of the worst films ever made. Unfortunately, even after a digital remaster, the movie looks equally bad, partly due to problems with the original film, and partly due to a sloppy transfer that's pixelated as hell in the darker scenes.

The special edition DVD features the 156-minute "Producer's Cut" of the film that's been disowned by virtually everyone involved, including director Tinto Brass, writer Gore Vidal, and most of the actors, largely due to the six minutes of hardcore footage Bob Guccione shot and included after Brass turned in his final cut. For those who just can't get enough cheese with their T&A, this oughta hit the spot.

The disc also includes an hour-long documentary on the making of "Gore Vidal's Caligula," which is, if anything, even harder to sit through than the main feature.
