One of the highlights of the most recent AVN Awards season was when Not Jersey Boys XXX: A Porn Musical made the deadline for the 2015 awards. By all accounts, the movie was shaping up to be one of X-Play’s finest, and all eyeballs were on it as soon as the DVDs arrived at the office.

The end result of this scrutiny was an even dozen nominations—not uncalled for given the size of the cast, the complexity of the production … and the utter hilarity of the musical numbers.

A huge cast makes the most of the campy material, a tribute to Clint Eastwood’s biopic of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. AVN Award-winning actor Tommy Pistol gives a polished performance, as always, but a pleasant surprise is the good work done by Chad Diamond as original band founder Tommy DeVito and Eric John as Valli's close collaborator, Bob Gaudio.

But the one who steals the show is Carmen Caliente. A scene from the movie featuring Caliente’s gum-snapping “classy lady” was screened at the AVN Awards and got the audience giggling. All three of these performers, plus non-sex performers Ryder as gay music producer Bob Crewe and Roy Karch as mob boss Gyp DeCarlo, were recognized for their acting with AVN Award nominations.

Also adding the necessary sex appeal are Mila Blaze, Zoey Monroe, Ryder Skye, Anya Ivy and Bailey Bae. Ivy’s physique inspires “Big Tits Don’t Lie,” while Bae plays a relative of DeCarlo who’s known by the unpromising nickname “Hairy Sherry”—which leads to another take on a Four Seasons staple.

In addition to winning for the top-notch soundtrack, director Ryder’s tireless efforts to spread the word on his love letter to Valli also garnered him an award for Best Marketing Campaign - Individual Project. Retailers who are looking to stock the DVD will find that in addition to the word of mouth Ryder created, Not Jersey Boys XXX has a built-in fan base. And once they hear “Can’t Take My Dick Out of You,” they’ll be humming it for weeks … and telling their friends about it.
