What you should not expect from Man of Steel XXX is anything remotely resembling this summer’s big screen Superman reboot from which it takes its name—and that may very well be a good thing in the eyes of comic fanatics. Axel Braun, for one, has certainly made it publicly known what an abomination he found the Hollywood rendition to be, and how much more true to the source material loyalists should find the one at hand of his creation.
That assertion may be a tad overconfident, since one of the biggest offenses of the Hollywood film to many was Superman’s killing Zod in a fit of passion, and Braun’s Superman does the very same thing to one of the villains here. All the same, this Man of Steel is otherwise much more in keeping with the traditional hero everyone knows and loves than the one offered up by Zack Snyder and company.
Played once again by Ryan Driller (who filled a more old-school version of the role in Braun’s 2011 production Superman XXX: A Porn Parody), our guy in the sky finds himself facing off here against Bizarro (Billy Glide), a semi-clone of him manufactured by Lex Luthor (a sneeringly superb Bryn Pryor).
Before confronting this dangerous version of himself, though, the caped one, guilt-ridden by his aforementioned transgression, takes a page from Superman II and rids himself of his superpowers, becoming a regular, mortal Clark Kent. He returns to Smallville and reconnects with his high school flame, Lana Lang (a great-as-always Samantha Ryan).
Meanwhile, Bizarro begins wreaking havoc, and Clark’s current flame, Lois Lane (Kirsten Price), tracks down Lana for help recruiting Clark to save the day. But not before indulging in a little Lang/Lane lesbianism that’s hands down the hottest scene of the movie.
Also of note are the blowjob Silver Banshee (Skin Diamond) gives Angle Man (Alan Stafford) and the boy/girl between Superman and Zatanna (Kendall Karson taking over the role from Christy Mack in Braun’s The Dark Knight XXX released last summer).
With each superhero parody, Braun hones this specialized craft more and more. This is not only probably the best edited one yet, but boasts the richest script and most elaborate feel. It also contains a lot of exemplary performances—aside from Ryan and Pryor, Sasha Knox is terrific as Livewire, as is Diamond doing the Scottish brogue of Banshee (albeit she was raised in Scotland).
For anyone disappointed by mainstream’s Man of Steel, or those who just can’t get enough of the bizarro superhero world of Axel Braun, this is yet one more banner offering for the ages.
