There’s a real Pretty Woman feel to the plot in Overnight: Lance (played by Richie Calhoun) needs someone to stay the night with him in a platonic fashion to keep his night terrors at bay. When he calls and arranges a date with Vera (Allie Haze), he tells her right away that he’s about to buy up a major company and sell it off in pieces. (Richard Gere, anyone?) He promises her $12,000 for three days’ company, but insists on no touching. (Just like Julia Roberts never getting kissed.) Instead, he wants her to tell him about herself so he will be bored to sleep. And he gives her money to buy new clothes. (“You work on commission right? Big mistake. Huge!”) He even screws over his lawyer (Nick Manning), who wants to take out his revenge by fucking Haze.
Of course, in the short amount of time Calhoun and Haze are together, they’re in love, but not without complications.
Although the pair aggrees on no sex, thankfully that doesn’t apply to everyone throughout the entire movie. In fact, things kick off with a hot-and-heavy three-way between customer Tom Byron, Haze and her hooker pal Jessie Andrews. And Mr. Marcus, drug dealer to the hooker house, takes some of his payment out on Skin Diamond with some hardcore anal. But of course one of the hottest scenes is between Calhoun and Haze (You knew that was gonna happen, right?): There’s a tenderness to it you don’t often see in porn, and the chemistry between the pair makes the story a little more believable.
The hooker with the heart of gold story gets a few twists and turns added to it in this adaptation, but it all comes together well.
