This Francois Clouzot feature is-yes indeed-a takeoff on Breakfast at Tiffany's. Jessica Drake plays Tiffany, a Holly Golightly type, here a working whore, not just a party girl. She is "great in bed and wild and free and will never ask any questions."
Eric Masterson, the glum writer who moves into a loft next door, is also a whore, being kept by a rich woman (Maya Devine). Jessica plays a guitar but does not sing "Moon River" (although they use lines from it in the dialogue).
The most unusual thing about the movie is that the two leads fall in love but don't have sex. It's well acted and directed, but let's face it, anyone who's ever seen the Audrey Hepburn classic is not going to be moved by an imitation, no matter how expert.
Retailing: An pretty good couples movie.
