Porn movies and B-grade horror films have always had a lot of things in common - bad acting, worse production values, gratuitous nakedness and dialogue that could peel the paint off a wall. And the porn world of late has attempted to further tether the two genres by producing a slew of horror/porn features that revel in sex and gore of equally graphic measure.
Blood Lake is one such feature, and unfortunately, it hedges a might bit more to the irredeemable end of both genres at hand than the redeemable one. The story, a jumbled amalgam of Friday the 13th, The Blair Witch Project and The Evil Dead, follows a gang of wisecracking young horntoads on a chilly getaway to a cabin in the woods. They all have sex in different pairings as a preacher/ghost baddie picks them off one by one. The end.
The sex scenes aren't all that bad - the movie's one saving grace - but the script is barely coherent, the editing is sloppy (it even goes back and forth randomly from widescreen to standard aspect), the attempted acting is painful and that dialogue ... man, we've heard more inspired banter out of talking elevators.
Retailing: Horror fans may dig it for a chuckle and a wank.
