It never hurts to open a space epic—even a porn one—with a tribute to Star Wars: In this case, a space ship slowly filling the top of the screen, hovering over a devastated planet Earth. It's also a clue that this movie, shot with the new Red Epic 2K camera, is meant to be seen on a large screen; in fact, the bigger, the better. Otherwise, details will be lost, and there are plenty of details to see, from gadgetry on space suits and in space ships, to computer-generated aliens loping across the landscape, as well as myriad other computer creations.
The plot's a bit complicated. In 2097, Earth's been invaded by little green men who've wiped out most of the inhabitants and forced many of those remaining to leave the planet and establish a survival base on (or rather beneath) Mercury, from which base they hope to A) colonize other planets with Earth's survivors, and B) take back their own planet. But those engaged in battling for Earth are generally couples (boy/girl and girl/girl) who have their own concerns, which sometimes conflict with the overall objective. And yes, there's a surprise ending, but we won't be giving that away.
We're unclear why director Sam Hain decided to go with CGI water during the opening coupling with Misty Stone and Bill Bailey in a shower stall; it looks seriously unreal in a movie that should be trying for all the realism it can muster. Fortunately, the two clearly enjoy each other's company, with the lady moaning with delight through horsie, reverse cowgirl and spoon until he splooges on her chest.
Commander Jessica Drake assesses the situation along with her international team of advisors, and she's clearly torn between saving the 1400-plus survivors she has on board the Horizon and figuring out how to rescue the billions left on Earth. Apparently less concerned with the survivors are Earth's president Xander Corvus and JCS Chairman Dick Chibbles, who double-team hooker Alektra Blue (looking a bit like Morena Baccarin's character in Firefly). She takes one guy at each end with mish and doggie, rides solo in reverse cowgirl—love those hip rotations!—then back to double-teaming with cowgirl and sidesaddle until they cream her chest.
There's a definite undercurrent of sexism as Xander meets with Jessica and her number two, Kaylani Lei. He disregards her advice to mount more rescue missions and instead tells her she'll have to drop The Big One on the alien base on Earth ... whether she likes it or not. Jessica calls him on his bigotry and promises retribution... if they survive.
Kimberly Kane and hubby Tony DeSergio will lead an attack squadron against enemy guardships, but they need a little R&R before shoving off. Their tender lovemaking in their bunk room includes oral, doggie, reverse cowgirl, sidesaddle and mish. But during the subsequent outer space dogfight, Kimberly is killed by an enemy ship—or is she?
The Horizon too crashes on Earth, but chief physicist Andy San Dimas (with a cool Russian accent) and assistant Bobbi Starr understand that they have to fulfill the mission and detonate their super-bomb, even if it means they don't survive. Bobbi discusses the situation with paramour Kaylani—and of course, the discussion quickly becomes horizontal, with lots of kissing, fingering and terrific camera angles that show every bit of the action ... and reaction.
Even though Bobbi seems to have taken steps to prevent the super-bomb from exploding, everyone's filled with dread that they're going to die soon ... so of course, it's time for more sex, here between Jessica and Rocco Reed. It's another slow one, with Jessica savoring his mouth on her pussy, and he her mouth deeply sucking his cock. She's got her fingers in her ass as she camps on his peg, and seems to love his stroking in mish and doggie, finishing by hungrily eating his cum off her chest.
So ... will Jessica destroy Earth with the super-bomb? Will Kaylani, Bill and Misty stop her? And what really happened to Kimberly? We won't tell!
Overall, Horizon's ambiance is top-notch. Everything (except that shower) looks right, from floating holographic images to the undulating forehead of the chief alien—and, perhaps more importantly, it all sounds right, with physical space well defined by excellent audio cues. Sadly, the movie is a bit dark in spots on the small screen, but as we said, bigger is better.
