One of a spate of Stephen Lucas videos given simultaneous release by Size Video, Sex Drive 2020 bears all the signs -- both good and bad — of a busy auteur at work.  Lucas gets all the credits for this decidedly strange sci-fi entry (producer, director, writer, editor), so he must be the man to ask: What is this mess about?

To Lucas' credit, Sex Drive 2020 is not boring; indeed, the footage spent on storyline, dead space in so many porn videos, is frequently imaginative and amusing. Set in post-nuke Southern California, Sex Drive gives us Eric Manchester strapped in a chair while wicked scientists (Margold, Butler, and the voluptuous Viper) probe into his most intimate sexual fantasies. The satire is very broad, the special video effects are plentiful and garish, and the story never quite makes sense. But with all the sound and fury, I have to admit I was entertained.

As for the sexplay, it's among the best that Lucas has captured. Camerawork and editing are fine, and the caliber of models is high. Vets like Jesse Koehler and Pierce Daniels appear with new looks, while newcomers like Tony Marino add spark. The fantasies are standard dress-up stuff (football jock, biker, cowboy) but Lucas and his actors maintain a steady simmer. If only the video made a bit more sense.
