In this jaded world of adult video reviewing, it's seldom that I get to use the word "art" without flinching, but this latest entry in Buckshot's solo-action Minute Man series demands respect even as it compels response. The world-famous nude-photographer who directs these little masterpieces apparently thinks of them as hack work; he doesn't even bother to credit himself with a signature pseudonym, to the consternation of everyone in the industry.

Each of four 15-minute vignettes features a single model alone with his fantasies and his favorite piece of equipment. "Built" places the extraordinary Ray Mars on a deserted construction site. Mars is like Apollo in a hardhat; when he catches sight of himself in a mirror, even he can't resist reaching out to touch. "Leatheroticus" demonstrates a few of muscleman Tom Lee's favorite fetishes, which include the removal of body hair in crucial places and the introduction of large rubber objects in others. It's filmed as a fantasy within a fantasy in high theatrical fashion, with dramatic lighting and an amazing fade-out. "His Brother's Box" sends guy-next-door Rigardo Merlo to the attic to discover some erotic secrets. "Private Quarters" has Tattooed sailor hunk Joe Falco performing spellbinding feats of self-abuse alone in his bunk.

The director's medium—16mm transferred to video-gives the photography a gorgeously lustrous texture. Camera angles, editing, timing, close-ups, settings and situations all reflect the superbly selective sensibilities of an erotic artist at his peak. Minute Man Series Two is one of the most satisfying gay videos in months, on every level from animal response to cinematic art. Someone should get up and take a bow.
