This film nicely showcases John Bruno’s talent for creating mood. When directing for Falcon’s sister brand, Mustang, Bruno masterfully creates spaces that are dark and menacing. But here at the upscale spa that serves as Malibu Heat’s setting, models are swimming through multiple layers of sunlight with nary a shadow or creepy corner to fuck in. Though each of the four duos are filmed in very public, outdoor places — the tennis court, the swimming pool, etc. — viewers still don’t get the sense that they’re being naughty voyeurs. In fact, it’s as if the spa is closed for renovations but for a handful of invited guests enjoying rubdowns and blowjobs. And despite the abundant beauty (both models and setting) the sex is formulaic, and the top/bottom roles are obvious from the moment the models appear onscreen. The sun-soaked interlude featuring the Jarics serves as the film’s finale and flagship scene. Tyler Saint and Roman Heart (also overexposed) are more interesting to watch.
