Oh, daddy! If you weren’t a fan of Josh West before seeing Nightwatchmen, you most certainly will be afterward. West is just one of the authority figures jangling his keys in Paul Barresi’s flick, and his aggressive encounter with Zane Jacobs is hands-down the film’s showstopper, a scene that will have viewers begging for West’s badge number. The fireworks get underway when Officer West corners his perp in a stockroom, then puts Jacobs through all kinds of thrillingly graphic humiliations, verbal and otherwise, before unloading on his sub’s upturned face. Each of the four encounters are beautifully executed, all expertly filmed and lit. And it’s not often that I come across a flick where the energy between the models is off the charts in each and every scene; kudos to the casting director for this understated blue-collar gem.
