Onscreen title Dark Meat/White Meat. How does director Edward James pick which movies to put his name on? He's done perhaps hundreds, mostly with all- or mostly black casts, without signing them. Maybe he's proud of this one? It's not bad. Technically, there are embarrassments. When blond Winters on spring break drops his pants to get sucked by seated L-Scrilla, the dropping pants make a crash sound like a box of flower pots, and L-Scrilla's chair creaks like a new saddle. There are traffic noises and a hum on the sound track, and lighting's a bit bright. But the models are attractive and energetic, and there's some hint of design. Scrilla fucks Winters on a red vinyl chair and a gray rug in front of a brick fireplace. On a pink-and-blue beach, beautiful crophaired black Sauki picks up fauxhawked blond Brecken whom he then fucks on a floral bedspread. By computer, curly-haired Latino boy-next-door Santana arranges to fuck round-eyed, hanky-headed black youth Gemini in a pine-paneled bedroom with a china-blue cover. In a blue pool in a green courtyard, black KB with a tilted ballcap picks up pink youth Hendrix to fuck on that same floral bedspread mentioned above. It's all very pretty to look at.
