Even more than an onscreen tryout for new porn talent, the fifth installment in the Auditions series feels more like dirty home movies made by and for the film’s director and main model, Thomas Bjorn. That can be both a good thing and a bad thing. The sex feels authentic and somewhat edgy as it unfolds for the viewer, yet all the content is filtered through Thomas Bjorn’s singular perspective — his favorite positions, his pacing and especially the models he chooses to “interview.” Many of the guys are Latin (perhaps Bjorn’s personal preference) and run the gamut of body types, hairiness and age. Bjorn performs as a top in each and every scene, first interviewing his fresh meat from behind the camera lens, then moving to the bed for his very hands-on interview. The highlight here is unquestionably the threeway featuring Jed Pisston and Devon Moon, a naturally volcanic session which feels less like an audition and more like a real hookup, the camera being a mere afterthought.
