Absolutely one of the two or three best solo tapes ever made! Each segment, accompanied by a voice-over narrative that creates a richly romantic mood, varies from loneliness for an absent lover to melancholy over a mysterious stranger. The mood is perfectly capture by the actors, particularly Alan French, Randy Spears and Cameron Kelly, and recorded with photographic expertise (by Hal Roth) that is at moments breathtaking. The highlight of the tape is the last sequence, in which Cameron Kelly walks along the beach with a single rose, recalling the mysterious stranger with whom he made love the summer before. After the solo scene on the site of their encounter, he throws the rose into the sea, and the film ends with the bedraggled rose washed ashore. romantic, sentimental, of course —but also genuinely moving because of the expertise with which it is carried off.

This tape is gold packaged as brass (a refreshing error, since it's usually the other way around). Why did Filmco choose a title and a box cover that do nothing to capture the film's uniqueness? How many gay tapes use the word "stud" in their title? For too many —and it usually indicates a lack of imagination inherent in every aspect of the production. The box cover boasts a fetching photo of Rick Sands, but it is as nondescript as possible, suggesting nothing of a romantic mood. Why not Kelly and the rose on the cover? It would attract many more viewers, and backed up by an appropriate title might well turn this tape into Filmco's biggest moneymaker.
