This stylish spoof of the hard-boiled private eye places director Cameron Leight at the head of the class. The playful irony begins at once, for star Bill Marlowe (whose name recalls a famous detective) plays detective Nicholas Rage (whose name recalls a famous X-rated director). And from that point on the feature takes off, with one scene after another that sustains the illusion. Rita Davis is delightful as the wife who suspects her husband (Vic Summers) of adultery and hires Rage to follow him.  What we discover, of course, is that hubby is moonlighting as a photographer of male nudes from a Sunshine Boys escort agency.

The plot has a clever twist, and three of the sexual episodes are dynamite: Panther's spying on Dano and Madera as they make love, Marlowe's encounter with the escort agency manager, and the final scene between Marlowe and Summers. Production values are high throughout, and the technical quality of the video is up to Catalina's usual high standard. Packaging is alright too.
