Kennith Holloway produced this virtual remake of his own 1983 film, Knockout, in which an ex-middleweight boxing champion (Johnny Dawes) trained -- and fell in love with -- the next challenger (Eric Stryker). This time around the lead actors (Mueller as "Johnny," Cade as "Eric") are less successful at making their characters sympathetic and believable, but Hollywood Moose gives a delightful performance (in a nonsexual role) as the owner of an almost bankrupt training camp.
The erotic quotient of the remake is also lower, though the photography is more consistent and polished. Since so few gay adult films take a look at the world of boxing, Low Blows is well worth viewing.
