This Box Canyon production seems to be Sierra Pacific's answer to VCA's Carnival Tails, also out this month but directed by oldtimer Kenneth Holloway.  Of course, it could always be the other way around. Please don't ask me to choose between the two, because they are both terribly mediocre and as uneven as that ride with the little cages that go upside down that makes most people queasy.

The major problem with this one certainly isn't the photography or the pacing. It's the cast. You'd be hard pressed to find a plainer bunch of guys. Even Hans Mueller, the "hired gun" brought in from the Hollywood gay video community to give the feature a "name" performer, is thick and boorish. Hans has perfected his leer, if not his King Lear. Another very real problem is the choice of music. It is annoying. It's sort of a jaunty collection of melodies you might hear played at a Chuckie Cheese pizza emporium. I have never enjoyed sex set to tunes you can whistle.

The one really different and redeeming scene is the third -- shot outdoors in a typically Southwestern walled garden. A sudden thunderstorm seems to catch the two performers and crew unprepared, but the result is energetic sex in the warm, driving rain. The storm can also be thanked for sending the evil carnival music packing, at least temporarily.
