With direction by Travers, a new superstar (Stockwell) and a fine supporting cast, this should have been a four-A production. But somehow the spark of inspiration is missing from most of the sexual encounters, and the connecting "plot," set in the fantasy world of macho truck drivers, is both loose and inconsistent. Even the names of the characters change from scene to scene.
But the production values are high-quality, and the slickness helps cover some of the ragged edges. Stockwell is a classically handsome young man, guaranteed to draw viewer interest and make the feature a commercial blockbuster. Newcomer Doug Niles, featured in a non-sexual role, is also promising.
