Working within a simple but believable framework, director Scott Masters turns out a consistently itneresting story about a gay men's drawing class.  Lines of desire are set up like a telegraph network between the models, the students and their instructor.  Cute Russ Adams fantasizes about having sex with nude model Damien; Eric Nelson has XXX-rated daydreams about teacher Scott Martin; students Johnny Rahm and Todd Winslow prefer to go home and get it on together.  After class, when Damien brings in a new model (Nino Marcos) for the teacher's approval, Martin cooly appraises the stud's well-marbled musculature ("he'll make an interesting contrast"), and then compulsively drops to his knees.  Maybe he's a closet fascist and couldn't resist Nino's unique pubic shave, which looks like Adolph Hitler's moustache.

Production values are interesting up to Catalina quality, the cast is varied and attractive, and the pace is steady.  Masterpiece may not live up to its ambitious title, but it's a quietly satisfying production.
