Reviews

When the ACT-UP protester (Jeffries) meets the delegate from North Carolina (Crockett), it's love/hate at first sight. Shooting on location in San Diego during last summer's Republican convention, writer/director Donner is remarkably successful at creating genuinely conflicted characters with gradually deepening romantic expectations. Donner manages to have it all in a cast that's buffed and believable, in a story that's romantic and hot. Jeffries and Crockett are completely in character from beginning to end, as is Phillips in a pivotal role as a gay Republican slut. (You know they're out there!) Even the score (Vivaldi Strings) is unexpected and refreshing. Viewers will be enjoying this video long after they've forgotten who headed the Republican ticket in '96!
