LOS ANGELES—Cherie DeVille, adult performer and a regular contributor to The Daily Beast, has written “J.D. Vance Is Coming for Your Porn–Watch Out,” a new opinion column available now. She also debuted a new scene on OnlyFans.
In the article, she begins by discussing how 2022 was the best and worst year for the porn industry. OnlyFans has become a lucrative option that has been plagued by online piracy. Additionally, there’s a growing threat from politicians who are calling for bans on porn and sexual content. Due to this, DeVille feels that 2023 may be worse than prior years. Vance, a conservative who was recently elected to the U.S. Senate from Ohio, is calling for a nationwide ban on porn, blaming it for destroying families. Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley, and fellow conservative and high-profile political rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West) have also expressed anti-porn tropes.
DeVille added that these ideas are no longer on the fringe and are becoming more mainstream. While she has built her brand on her tenure in the industry, she fears new performers may feel the consequences of efforts to outlaw porn.
