LOS ANGELES—World famous adult studio Wicked Pictures has announced that it has received more than 30 2018 XCritic Awards nominations, honoring the work of contract talent Brad Armstrong, Axel Braun, Jessica Drake, and the company's many independent contributors.
Mr. Armstrong's Editor's Choice features Camgirl and An Inconvenient Mistress received Best Director (Feature) nominations, while Camgirl also garnered attention in both the Best Feature Release and Best Actress (Kristen Scott) categories. Armstrong's big-budget Jessica Drake release Carnal earned the veteran director nominations for Best Director (Non-Feature) and Best Non-Feature Release. Contract superstar and sexual wellness educator Drake was honored with a nomination for XCritic's coveted Lifetime Achievement Award, and received an additional mention in the Best MILF category. Armstrong also earned a Best Actor nomination for his performance in the Adam & Eve release The Cursed XXX.
The Editor's Choice hit Justice League XXX: An Axel Braun Parody earned several high profile nominations, including Best Feature, Best Director (Feature), and Best Actress for Romi Rain's excellent portrayal of the iconic Wonder Woman. Parody master Braun's versatility in the all-sex genre was recognized with Best Non-Feature Release and Best Director Non-Feature nominations for Axel Braun's Brown Sugar 2.
Mike Quasar's Second First Date received no less than five major nominations: Best Actor (Derrick Pierce), Best Actress (Mercedes Carrera), Best Supporting Actress (Whitney Wright), Best Director (Feature), and Best Feature Release. Quasar's Making Ends Meet earned a trio of impressive nominations, including Best Actress (Gia Paige), Best G/G Action Scene (Gia Paige and Riley Nixon), and Best Feature Release. High School Reunion, which Quasar directed for the romance-oriented Wicked Passions imprint, snared Tommy Pistol a Best Supporting Actor nomination. Another Wicked Passions title by Quasar, Hollywood Ending, also earned a Best Feature Release nomination.
Former contract star/director Stormy Daniels' contribution to the Wicked Passions franchise, Never Forgotten, received nominations for Best Actress (Ella Nova), Best Feature Release, Best Director (Feature), and a Special Recognition nomination honoring the non-sex performance by late actor Kyle Stone. Another title from Daniels, The Set Up, earned Lily Lane Best Supporting Actress recognition. Hank Hoffman's erotic drama Insomnia earned two acting nominations, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, for Mona Wales and Chanel Preston, respectively.
Fittingly, given its track record in production, performance, eroticism, and innovation, Wicked Pictures received XCritic's coveted Studio of the Year nomination. For his part, Wicked President and owner Steve Orenstein was eager to thank both XCritic and all the talented individuals contributing to his company's ongoing success: “As this business continues to change I’m prouder than ever that the work of our contract directors and stars continues to stand out from the pack and be recognized. Of course, all of this great work is not just from our contract players, and I thank all the independent directors, actors and actresses we've worked with for their contributions as well.”
