LOS ANGELES—Canoga Park-based adult industry powerhouse Wicked Pictures and the lines it distributes have received more than one hundred 2019 AVN Award nominations. The 2019 AVN Awards, hosted by Romi Rain and Bailey Rayne and featuring music by chart-topper Cardi B., will be celebrated in Las Vegas on January 26, 2019 as part of the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo.
Nearly half of the studio's impressive sweep went to a quintet of outstanding releases: the Brad Armstrong blockbusters Fallen II: Angels & Demons, Camgirl, and Carnal, and Axel Braun’s smash hits The Possession of Mrs. Hyde and Deadpool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody. Wicked Girl Jessica Drake and stars Avi Love, Kristen Scott, Whitney Wright, Mercedes Carrera, Aaliyah Love, India Summer and Mona Wales dominated the Best Actress category with eight nominations for their work in Wicked releases, a company record. These acclaimed productions and performances are landmark achievements which took each of the studio's in-house imprints—including Wicked Comix, Wicked Passions, Wicked Masterpiece, and Wicked Feature—to new heights critically. In addition to celebrating these in-house lines, AVN nominated product distributed by Wicked on behalf of such international brands as Marc Dorcel and abbywinters.com. The 2019 nominations also recognized the ongoing success of Wicked Sensual Care’s luxurious lubricants and enhancers.
The eight Best Actress nominations span many of Wicked’s most critically acclaimed features of 2018, including Jessica Drake’s performance in the lavish, landmark 10th-anniversary sequel to 2008's Fallen, Fallen II: Angels & Demons, which also earned Best Director - Feature (Brad Armstrong), Best Drama, and seven additional accolades. Kristen Scott’s portrayal of Camgirl's titular character received a Best Actress nomination, as well as a second Best Drama mention for Armstrong and more. Carnal received Best Director - Non-Feature (Armstrong), Best Makeup, and Best Transsexual Sex Scene (Natassia Dreams, Ana Foxxx, Jessica Drake and Sean Michaels).
Axel Braun's first original feature in fifteen years, the black-and-white widescreen suspense blockbuster The Possession Of Mrs. Hyde earned Avi Love her first AVN Best Actress nomination. The ambitious epic's many other nominations included Best Director - Feature (Braun, also nominated for Director of the Year) and Best Action/Thriller. Braun’s hilarious Best Parody nominee Deadpool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody earned a Best Actor nomination for Seth Gamble, Best Director - Feature, and several more accolades.
Female Performer of the Year nominee Whitney Wright was honored with a Best Actress nomination for Jonathan Morgan's Cursed, while the film also received Best Comedy, Best Actor - Feature (Ryan McLane), and Best Screenplay. Mike Quasar's Best Comedy nominee Second First Date earned Best Actress and Best Actor mentions for Mercedes Carrera and Derrick Pierce, respectively. Quasar's Too Little, Too Late saw a Best Actress nomination going to Aaliyah Love.
The Stormy Daniels-directed Wicked Passions release Never Forgotten received no less than seven high profile nominations: Best Drama, Best Director - Feature, Best Editing, Best Soundtrack, Best Makeup, Best Screenplay, and Best Non-Sex Performance for the late Kyle Stone.
Mona Wales received a Best Actress nomination for her turn in the Best Drama nominee Insomnia, which also earned helmer Hank Hoffman Best Director - Feature, Best Screenplay, and Best Editing. Industry veteran India Summer was honored with a Best Actress nomination for Hoffman’s Flawless.
Foreign lines distributed by the studio, including Marc Dorcel and abbywinters.com, received major nominations (see list below), while the continued success of Wicked Sensual Care, the acclaimed creator of luxurious, cruelty-free and PETA-certified intimate products, was celebrated in the Best Lubricant Manufacturer category.
