LOS ANGELES—Racial profiling and superheroes are in the news lately, in part because of the much-anticipated release of Marvel's Black Panther movie, helmed by a black director and featuring a mostly black cast—so it shouldn't be surprising that a small new indie porn company The Porn Nerds are announcing the launch of a project that aims to fill a missing genre in today’s porn: ebony content with ebony actors in leading roles. The Porn Nerds will be producing and distributing a parody project like no other, Black Panther XXX—and they will crowdfund the project entirely via the website Indiegogo.com—and if they reach their goal, they will release the feature online for free.
"Just like Hollywood is now ready for a black lead superhero movie, we’re ready for a majority black lead superhero porn parody," Porn Nerds owner Chris Tee said. "We were influenced last year when Brad Armstrong and Wicked Pictures shot a feature movie with an all-black cast and we thought there needs to be more mainstream attention in porn with ebony performers in more feature lead roles, and so with the huge buzz in Hollywood over Marvel’s Black Panther movie which will have a majority black cast, it’s natural to us we wanted to collaborate with others to make one of the most amazing porn parodies ever featuring a black superhero, completely funded by fans and sponsors, and we’ll give it away for free.”
The Indiegogo campaign has a goal of raising $10,000 by March 3, but The Porn Nerds have said if at least $5,000 is raised, the movie can still be made, but only the donors will get to see the movie for free while others will have to pay.
Chris added that they have found a partner for this project in fellow indie porn director Adam Christopher, known for his other parody films Defenders XXX and Porno Things: A Stranger Parody.
“Very honored the guys over at Porn Nerds asked me to shoot and direct this special project," Adam said. “I’m a huge superhero geek; I love comics and the movies and I know how special this Black Panther movie coming out is going to be for society, so I’ve written a script and I’m looking for all ebony performers from all over to be a part of this majority black cast feature porn parody that I believe the fans want, and I believe they will help us fund it since no mainstream company wants to—but we’re ready to listen if a company wants to fund it for us.”
The $10,000 goal for Black Panther XXX’s budget would cover the cost of production, marketing, Indiegogo fees and crowdfunding perks, which include premiere party tickets, signed posters, costumes and props from the movie, set visits and more.
Pre-production and set construction is scheduled to begin in early March, with a projected shooting schedule possibly also starting in March, depending how on how successful the crowdfunding or other revenue sources turn out to be.
Black Panther XXX will be produced by The Porn Nerds and written/directed by Adam Christopher. Cast members will be added as the fundraising campaign progresses.
