LAS VEGAS—Sex worker mutual aid and harm reduction group, SWAID Collective, has announced the fall clothing swap date in Las Vegas on Sunday, Sep. 24 at a private location.
SWAID is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides harm reduction supplies, microgrants, and testing subsidies to sex workers in need across the US. Its semi-annual clothing swaps have been hosted in Las Vegas since 2016.
The SWAID Clothing Swap is a free-to-attend event for sex workers in Las Vegas and drive-in communities. Participants can exchange clothes, shoes, toys, and more.
The fall SWAID Clothing Swap will feature a silent auction as well as raffle prizes donated by event sponsors. All attendees will receive a free raffle ticket upon arrival, with the opportunity to obtain additional tickets on-site by donating to SWAID.
Attendees have the option to do mini-photoshoots during the event with Nikki Sequoia, the photographer behind No Filter Fotos. There will also be a 360 video selfie booth available.
Free harm reduction supplies will be handed out as well.
Events and fundraising volunteer for SWAID Sydney Screams said, "We’re excited to host another clothing swap for the Las Vegas community, especially in this time of need. Whether you have items to donate or not, we hope that sex workers will attend and get some free clothes, tools for work, and food as they network! Our last event had such a wonderfully diverse group of attendees that helped us raise over $1400 for our microgrant fund, and we’d love to see those folks back again (with some more of their sex worker friends!)."
Sponsors already signed on to support the event include Bad Dragon, InkedVixens, Peepshow Toys, Velvet Alley Toys, No Filter Fotos, Nobu Toys, Mr. Hankey’s Toys, QueerCrush, Uberrime, Tee Franklin, RealDoll, and Blackwater Forge LLC.
Added Screams, "Bringing together the community is such a core part of SWAID’s success. We welcome sex workers of all shapes, sizes, genders, followings, and races to attend to mix and mingle, grab some new gear, and win some cool raffle prizes! After our last event, we were overwhelmed with positive feedback from our community. We look forward to seeing you back again!"
Additional sponsorship opportunities are available for companies and individuals interested in supporting the sex worker community. Inquiring parties can reach out to Screams at [email protected]
