SEATTLE—Elevate, presented by Streamate, has announced its latest collaboration with filmmaker, queer, and sex worker advocate Rae Threat.
This August, Elevate shines a spotlight on Threat's significant contributions to the adult community, emphasizing her grassroots engagement and advocacy through visually captivating imagery.
Describing the partnership, Elevate's spokesperson stated, "We are honored to feature Rae Threat as part of our ongoing commitment to highlighting individuals who are making a positive impact within the adult industry. Rae's unique perspective and unwavering dedication to promoting diversity and empowerment are truly inspiring."
In an exclusive interview conducted by Streamate's Vanessa Eve, Rae shared intimate details of her early life, reflecting on her upbringing as a first-generation Thai-American in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. Through this candid conversation, Threat provided insights into her journey from an encounter at a nightclub to becoming a prominent figure in the world of photography and advocacy.
Recalling the pivotal moment that kickstarted her photography career, Threat reminisced about a spontaneous meeting with a nightlife promoter that led to her first publication in LA Weekly. This initial success paved the way for Threat's immersion in the adult community, attracting the attention of esteemed figures such as Eon McKai.
Rae's commitment to representing diverse voices is vividly showcased in her work, beginning from her early collaborations with renowned individuals like Dana DeArmond, Jiz Lee, and Courtney Trouble. Through her radical advocacy for queer, trans, and diverse body types, Rae has not only challenged societal norms but has also provided a platform for underrepresented communities to shine.
Threat enthused, "I'm excited to be a part of the Elevate Program, as it's important to highlight the advocacy behind the doors that most people don't see. I'm looking forward to being able to share my experiences advocating for more representation. Thank you for this opportunity, as I hope it can help underrepresented creators in our community be seen. Representation always matters."
