Jessica Drake Co-Presenting Seminar at AASECT Conference

PHILADELPHIA—Wicked Pictures contract star Jessica Drake will share her insights on sex education and sex workers at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, June 15, when she co-presents a seminar at the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists Conference.

Along with sex therapist Angela Gunn, Drake will lead the seminar Sex Workers as Allies and Teachers: Exploring Why We Need Them in Our Professional Circles, and What We Can Learn From Them About Sex Education, Navigating Oppression and Healing.

“This will be my third year attending, and my very first year to present at the conference. I am so grateful to Angie for partnering with me and I’m incredibly pleased our panel was selected by AASECT,” Drake said. “It’s a great opportunity to acknowledge and explore the valuable contributions sex workers provide to our understanding of sexuality, relationships and ability to express ourselves intimately. I’m excited at the prospect of so many professionals from various backgrounds joining together and exploring the unique value of sex workers’ lived experiences. This panel will hopefully challenge some ideas of who we are and what we truly need from allies and professionals alike, while also sharing sentiments gathered from many different sex workers. Someone you know is or was a sex worker. Let us share some ideas with you in hopes of establishing a stronger rapport and increasing understanding and compassion.”

The seminar, which takes place from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. will focus on the lessons that can be learned from sex workers, their activism, their freedom of expression and their authenticity. The seminar aims to bring their important voice to the forefront, honoring the experiences, teachings and identities of those individuals on the front lines while also bringing forth vital lessons to support sexual healing, expression and the balance of professional roles and personal pleasure.

Jessica’s appearance marks one of the few times an adult performer or sex worker has presented at the prestigious event. The conference will take place June 13-16 at Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia. The event will gather professionals from a variety of disciplines such as sexuality education, counseling, therapy, research, social work, psychology, sociology, nursing, medicine, and more.
