Playhouse Partners With StopNCII.org to Combat Image-Based Abuse

BONDI, New South WalesPlayHouse, an Australian adult content creator platform, today announced its partnership with StopNCII.org, an online tool operated by UK non-profit organization SWGfL dedicated to combating the spread of non-consensual intimate images (NCII) online. This collaboration empowers PlayHouse creators and users with a tool to protect themselves from image-based abuse.

StopNCII.org's innovative platform allows individuals to regain control over their intimate images by generating unique digital fingerprints (hashes) that can be used to identify and remove such content from participating platforms. By integrating this technology, PlayHouse is taking a proactive stance against the non-consensual sharing of intimate images, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for its community.

Said William O'Halloran, CEO of PlayHouse, "At PlayHouse, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive community for all our users. We take a stand against non-consensual intimate image-based abuse and are dedicated to working alongside StopNCII.org to address this issue and implement significant measures to proactively prevent such incidents from happening."

UK Revenge Porn helpline manager at SWGfL Sophie Mortimer said, "We are delighted to have Playhouse join StopNCII.org to further the global protection against intimate image abuse. StopNCII.org has rapidly become a globally established initiative and having organizations join us from all parts of the world is the positivity and commitment we need to eradicate intimate image abuse for good."

How StopNCII.org Works

1. Hash creation: Individuals can upload their intimate images or videos to the StopNCII.org platform. The platform creates a unique digital fingerprint (hash) for  each file. The actual images or videos never leave the user's device and are not stored on the StopNCII.org servers.
2. Hash sharing: These hashes are securely shared with participating platforms like PlayHouse.
3. Detect and remove: PlayHouse and other platforms use these hashes to scan for and remove/block the upload of any matching content, preventing its further spread online.
