LOS ANGELES—The producers of “Onyx & Rosa," a proposed movie inspired by a sex-positive deck of Tarot cards, have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production. The effort continues through Dec. 1 in order to meet the goal of $10,959. So far $7,688 has been raised so far.
The movie, a proposed Italian-German co-production by producers Diego Tigrotto and JorgeTheObscene of SPT Films, is scheduled to be shot in Berlin next spring. It tells the story of Onyx's journey into the world of Tarot and conscious sexuality after receiving a reading from Rosa, a tarot card reader.
The Sex Positive Tarot is a deck illustrated by 35 international artists, enabling people to deal with topics related to sexuality in a non-judgmental way, based on consent and pleasure.
Like the Sex Positive Tarot, this will be a collaborative project, produced and directed by personalities from the Independent Porn Film Festivals and Sex Positive Movement Circuit. The movie aims to invite the audience on a journey with the major Arcana or set of 22 Tarot cards that represent the life lessons, karmic influences, and the archetypal themes that influence one's life.
According to the announcement, "Sex Positive Tarot is used as a symbolic mirror to the protagonist’s inner world. Each Tarot card is carefully selected to bring about an experience that furthers our understanding of sensuality and eroticism. To create this ontological saga, we are bringing together international, queer, and diverse directors, producers, and performers to expand upon the concept of sexual expression. Our inner world is reflected in the tarot deck, coming to life in a new and compelling film."
The film's plot tells the story of Onyx who is receiving aftercare after a BDSM session with Rosa, who offers him a Tarot reading. Rosa tells him that rare moments are more opportune for an encounter with the Arcana than after having a good orgasm—intimacy, nudity, and the right company tend to arouse honesty, mutual trust, and deeper connections. With playful hesitation he agrees to the Tarot session, proceeding to then draw three cards.
One by one, Onyx turns the cards over, getting immersed with each Arcanum in some dreamy state of trance where he encounters the Tarot characters represented in the pictures. Perhaps there is something he can learn from each of them, possibly, the time has come to face deep-rooted fears that have long been avoided; or maybe he just needs to lose his taboos in order to fully enjoy himself, and find the courage to make the choices and changes he wants in his life.
The cast will include Jamal Phoenix, Bishop Black, Luna Silver, Mad Kate, Adriene Teicher, Emy Fem, aTxE, Emre Busse, and Dark Lynx.
Ben Berlin, Pina Brutal, Puck Ellington, and JorgeTheObscene will direct. Producers are Diego Tigrotto and JorgeTheObscene, in collaboration with Roxy Nova, Silvia Procopio, a.k.a. Prox.
