HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Director Bloomer Yang a.k.a. comedian Oliver Wong, will be doing five stand-up comedy shows in 10 days.
This weekend, Wong is heading to New York to be part of the Very Big Asian Comedy Festival that runs from Thursday, April 27 through Sunday, April 30. It bills itself as "A Refreshing Festival You Didn’t Know You Needed" and features some of the best AAPI (Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders) comedians and up-and-coming comics. Wong’s first show is Friday night at 10:00 p.m. at The Broadway Comedy Club in the Red Room located at 318 West 53rd Street in the Broadway Theater District. Get tickets here.
On Saturday night, Wong is performing his second show at 9:00 p.m. at The Pit for Honey & Roast Battle, where Chelsea will go up against Chris Nguyen. This will be a roast that the usual stereotypes have no effect, and the comedians will be digging deep and thinking smarter. In the last rounds, the comedians will kill each other with kindness. The club is located at 154 W. 29th Street, New York City. Tickets are available here.
Last week, Wong did three shows in the Los Angeles area. He did stand-up at the Silly Cow Show at Junior High in Glendale, Calif. on Thursday, Asian Male Lead at The Stand-Up in Hollywood on Friday, and Teresa Lo’s Comedy Showcase at The Good Nite in North Hollywood on Sunday.
Wong said, "I’d like to say I’m going for the world record on comedy shows, but it’s more of a personal record of five shows in 10 days. I’m glad to be more in demand and invited to this comedy festival. If you’re in NYC, you should catch one or both of my shows."
