HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Will Ryder's new movie Not Traci Lords XXX '80s Superstars Reborn has picked up eight AVN Award nominations. X-Play's sexy historical look at the 1980s porn scene is one of the most award-nominated movies of the year and so unique that one reviewer called it "a tantalizing walk down pornography lane." Never before has an adult movie been made starring today's young porn starlets as the iconic porn legends from the early days of the VHS tape. The idea had never been thought of before and AVN felt strongly enough about the Will Ryder-written and -directed feature to honor it with eight award nominations.
"We couldn't be happier that our cast and crew has received so many important award nominations," Ryder said before taking a frosty bite of an Eskimo Pie.
"I'm at a loss for words but this might be the most historically significant adult movie since 12 Inches a Slave."
If the names Traci Lords, Ginger Lynn, Amber Lynn, Christy Canyon, Nina Hartley, Bunny Bleu, Samantha Strong, Kristara Barrington, Nina DePonca, Ron Jeremy, John Holmes and Jim South ring a bell, then you are either a fan of the 1980s porn scene or you might be getting a bit gray and can actually remember what it was like to purchase or rent a VHS tape and jerk off to a porn movie in the comfort of your own home.
"It was a spectacular era and we're so excited to be honored with these award nominations it's like Cosbys all over again," Ryder rejoiced, referring to the mega-award winning Not the Cosbys XXX. "This is like going to the Grammy's and sitting next to Taylor Swift with Ariana Grande on my lap."
"Well, it's not like that at all," co-producer Scott David thoughtfully added to crush Ryder's enthusiastic spirit—but the co-producer did offer some additional keen insight in the making of the movie.
"Will wanted to produce this movie for a few years as he actually recorded music scores for porn movies back starting in 1983 so he was around many of those big stars and directors and had quite an insight into the very early days of porn being shot for Beta and VHS tape," David offered.
Not Traci Lords XXX '80s Superstars Reborn stars Lucy Tyler as Traci Lords, Carter Cruise as Samantha Strong, Cameron Dee as Amber Lynn, Courtney Shea as Ginger Lynn, Zoey Monroe as Bunny Bleu, Mia Austin as Nina DePonca, Angelina Chung as Kristara Barrington, Ashley Graham as Nina Hartley, Gaia as Mai Lin, Angel Del Rey as 'The Fluffer' and the late Natasha Vega as the beautiful and busty Christy Canyon.
The men playing the '80s studs, directors and agents are Tyler Nixon as a young Tom Byron, Richie Calhoun as John Holmes, Kurt Lockwood as Jerry Butler, Jay Smooth as Jeff Styker, Eric John as Eric Edwards, Anthony Rosano as director Henri Pachard, Rick Garcia as director Freddie Lincoln, and Tom Byron as original talent agent Jim South. Misty Stone, Tom Byron and Ron Jeremy narrate the journey back to porn's classic era of 1984 with veteran Hall of Fame director Roy Karch serving as a historical consultant.
"I'm really looking forward to going to the awards show this year," stated Misty Stone who enjoyed narrating the movie. "I had no idea what those people went through back in the early eighties; it's really interesting."
