LOS ANGELES—Penthouse Pet Marica Hase was one of three female Asian adult performers featured by the Daily Beast in an article about racism and stereotyping.
The article “Asian Porn Stars Open Up About Adult-Industry Racism and Stereotyping,” which comes after the fatal shooting of Asians at a Georgia spa, was written by former adult performer Aurora Snow.
In the article, Hase discusses how being Asian has helped get her work and other opportunities. She hasn’t experienced stigmatization in the industry and tells a story about shooting a box cover with other models and being chosen for center stage.
Also interviewed for the piece are Ember Snow and Kimberly Chi, who discuss being cast as masseuses and foreign exchange students and how they’ve reframed the roles and conversations to be more positive and reflect how they portray our culture at large.
