NEW YORK—Content creator and social media influencer Marcela Alonso is celebrating Pride Month for the second year in a row by giving the LGBTQ+ community a platform to speak and be heard with her journey through the Pride Month series on her "Get Schooled" podcast.
She will be rolling out episodes on "Get Schooled" all month, starting with the first episode featuring Natassia Dreams, "Reflecting on Natassia Dreams: Part 1 - A Journey through Pride Month." Dreams was a guest last year. She talked to Alonso about her journey with her facial feminization surgery and appearing in the mainstream documentary Kokomo City.
New episodes drops every Sunday. The series also includes other four notable LGBTQ+ voices:
• June 9: Cuban-born trans performer Eva Maxim will share her transition story and how she dealt with her family.
• June 16: Sexually-fluid male talent Colby Jansen will talk about how he got into the industry, how things were different back then, and how his father supported him and his career choices.
• June 23: This episode will feature the host of "Hustlers 2 Housewives" podcast and industry veteran Lee Ann Steel. She will talk about her days as a feature dancer with her girlfriend and being attracted to feminine men before coming out.
June 30: This episode will spotlight multi-award-winning trans performer Brittney Kade. She will share her stories such as her stripper life and more.
Alonso said, "Last year, I created a Pride Month series for 'Get Schooled' with Marcela Alonso, which was very meaningful to me. I needed to give the LGBTQ+ community a platform to speak and be heard. Too often, there are many voices from outside the community speaking on their behalf; people must listen actively, instead of dominating the conversation, regarding Black trans women and other queer folks. Considering the rampant misinformation being spread, it's of utmost importance that we support our sisters, cousins, brothers, and sisters within the LGBTQ+ community."
