BERLIN & LONDON—Adult entertainment company Lustery and online sex toy boutique Self & More have teamed up for Masturbation Month May, collaborating on a series of videos comprising what they've dubbed the "Mutual & Messy" campaign. Featuring real-life couples from Lustery using an assortment of toys from Self & More, the project—highlighted through the companies' blogs and social media, under the hashtag #MutualandMessy—aims to advance the position that people "forget the PG rebrand of masturbation as a 'health-benefiting tool,' shake the taboo once and for all and celebrate it for what it is: a hot, pleasurable and sometimes messy way to get off."
Lustery—a platform for couples around the world to share their intimate videos in a safe manner—and Self & More—a curated online sex toy boutique that encourages people to embrace their inner "wanker" and experience pleasure unapologetically—wish to open up conversations about masturbating without shame and without "stripping it of its inherent sexiness and treating it as another wellness-related movement."
Lustery and Self & More joined forces to promote what they tout as a "more honest discourse around masturbation" that will "re-examine an image that has gone from unclean to überclean, because masturbation can be messy and we should be allowed to talk about it."
"Whether we’re bored, can’t sleep or are just plain horny," the campaign suggests, "we shouldn’t need scientific sounding discourse for our pleasure to feel valid."
Commented Self & More founder Poppy Scarlett Lepora, "With masturbation you don’t need to have any specific expectations. When you’re having sex with yourself there shouldn’t be any pressure to perform or look a certain way. Our mission is to destigmatize this act completely, to allow everyone the freedom to enjoy themselves, whatever it looks like. Bring back messy masturbation I say!"
Throughout Masturbation Month May, Lustery will publish five mutual masturbation videos, one on each Sunday, where Lustery couples will talk about masturbation and have fun with toys provided by Self & More.
According to Lustery's co-founder Paulita Pappel, "Lustery videos showcase the diversity of couples' sex lives and are therefore a source of inspiration. We found mutual masturbation to be an underrepresented but actually common practice with a lot of value for healthy sexual relationships and communication between partners. And that’s exactly what they’ve captured in this special video series!"
The first video will be released May 2.
