Kendra Sunderland Talks About Retirement In YNOT Interview

LOS ANGELES—It seems like just last month that Kendra Sunderland was headed back to her home state for a club date, but now the 2017 Vixen Angel of the Year has apparently retired, and she spoke with YNOT’s Amber Gold about life afterwards in an exclusive interview, "When Life Resembles Art: Kendra Sunderland Rebrands Her Real Life," that can be read here.

"It was so great to interview Kendra Sunderland. Ever since observing the media circus she fielded so deftly in 2015—basically, as an uninitiated civilian teen—I've been interested in her career moves and collaboration,” said Gold. “Her thoughtful insights did not disappoint, and I hope her future endeavors bring her just as much success.”

Kendra spoke candidly about her decision to leave the industry, going back to school, her animal rights activism and her recent work with PETA.

“If people want to eat meat, that’s their choice—like the 'circle of life' [argument] or something. That’s fine, but the kind of abuse we see in slaughterhouses because we have to mass-produce animals because there are so many people on this planet, that’s what I’m not okay with. It’s abuse,” said Kendra. “People will cry about dogs getting abused or cats getting abused, but what’s the difference between a dog or a cat and a farm animal? Just because we kill it afterwards to eat it, does that mean that all of a sudden it’s okay to cut off a pig’s tail or break their legs or hit them? It’s not.”
