LOS ANGELES—Award-winning adult filmmaker Kay Brandt, who directed the upcoming Adam & Eve release Adventures with the Baumgartners, is joining a panel discussion about whether the influence of porn on women is exploitive or empowering, as part of the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo on January 19.
The “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” panel will run from 4 to 5 p.m. at Festival Hall C at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 4455 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV 89169.
Moderating the panel will be noted sociologist and adult industry expert Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals. Those participating will include Kelly Holland, CEO and owner of Penthouse Global Media, Grooby publicist Kristal Penn, actress/director Angela White and Girlsway founder Bree Mills as they discuss women in the adult industry who as performers, directors, executives or producers, are able to find their own path to power in a traditionally male-oriented industry.
“I’m very pleased to be a part of this very important panel that deals with an issue many women in the industry today are facing,” Brandt said. “As a filmmaker, I’ve been part of a community that has been supportive, creative and innovative and gives many women the opportunity to succeed whether in front of or behind the camera.”
Brandt is known for her directorial work in this summer’s acclaimed Adam & Eve release, Babysitting the Baumgartners and its upcoming sequel, written by New York Times bestselling author Selena Kitt, Adventures with the Baumgartners. The films are the newest for the prolific filmmaker who since 2009 has directed more than 40 adult movies, including many award-winning films for such companies as Adam & Eve, Digital Playground, Girlfriends Films and New Sensations.
With a passion for writing, Brandt came into her own in the 1990s when she wrote the critically-acclaimed erotic stage play Kiss Me Twisted, which would later become the adult films Cherry Episode 1, and Cherry 2, before evolving into the e-book series The World of Cherry.
Today, in addition to her work on the Baumgartner movies, Brandt is writing and directing a new genre of adult films based on erotic books, such as Safe Landings, a feature based on her dramatic romance novel as part of Adam & Eve’s books-to-films series that includes the Baumgartners movies. Brandt’s recently published her first horror book Soles, is soon to be followed by other horror-themed novels that tap into her unique eclectic vision.
The Brandt-directed Adventures with the Baumgartners is set for release in May 2017 along with author Kitt’s novel of the same name, marking the first time an erotic novel and accompanying motion picture will be released simultaneously.
