LOS ANGELES—Men’s Health magazine writer Zachary Zane found out “how ridiculous and fantastical porn truly is” when he spent a day on a porn set with Jane Wilde for new article "I Went to a Porn Set to Learn What Happens Behind the Scenes."
Wrote Zane, "I'm fully aware that porn isn't an accurate reflection of real sex ... but I was curious to learn more about the ‘movie magic’ that happens on set. Even though I’m a sex columnist, I sometimes worry that the sex I’m having isn’t on par with what I see in porn ... it’s difficult not to compare ourselves to the adult performers we see on our screens.”
Wilde, shooting with co-stars Haley Reed and Sophia Grace for the Evil Angel title Frisky Anal Nymphos 2, schooled Zane in the realities of her day job—which included prepping for an anal scene (“I stop eating around eight to twelve hours before I clean out”), health concerns (“We try not to get the sugar candy stuff around the vagina area”) and introducing the writer to "only in porn" scenarios such as a milk enema scene (“it’s the last thing we do because it can get a little messy”).
The article plays up the over-the-top themes that serve as entertainment for porn viewers, while also serving as a reminder to civilians that life doesn’t necessarily have to imitate art. Wrote Zane, "I don't want to have sex like a porn star because frankly, it seems like a lot of work.”
