LOS ANGELES—Veteran adult film star James Bartholet has taken on another mainstream movie project. It's a comedy titled MoonRocks, and it's from Upward Rising Development and headed by director Dan Franks. Bartholet is not only one of the cast members, but is also a producer on the project, along with Executive Producer Richard Grieco, best known for his starring roles in the series 21 Jump Street and Veronica Mars. The project also has cast several adult stars including Luna Star, Misty Stone, Ron Jeremy, Marica Hase, September Reign, and former adult film star Mimi Miyagi.
The film begins shooting this week, and will continue through March, 2017 with a theatrical release planned by the end of the year. There are a few more roles yet to be cast.
“This is a pretty wild movie, and I think audiences everywhere are going to like it," predicted Bartholet. "We’ve attached some name mainstream and adult actors to this. I’m not going to give away any of the plot right now, but we’ll tell you more after we wrap production next month. I want to thank Dan Frank for bringing me on board, and for casting some of my fellow performers from the adult industry. As I’ve said before, there’s some good actors out there in this industry; it just takes a mainstream director with some insight to see that we can also act in mainstream movies as well.”
Bartholet has just finished working on Wicked Pictures' Exposed with Asa Akira for director Rikki Braun, son of award-winning director Axel Braun. Bartholet was recently featured in an article for Esquire magazine on the XXX Trump Parodies. The versatile actor played Trump in a parody for Dogfart.com, and a documentary on the making of that parody was seen on the Vice Channel.
Bartholet can also be seen starring in Kayden Kross's comical YouTube series Porn Soup in episode 47, "The Porn Star Acting School."
Bartholet will be signing at the upcoming Exxxotica Expo in Denver, Colorado March 31-April 2.
