LOS ANGELES—It's that time of year again—awards season, that is—and the AVN staffers and others who decide which features, performers, etc. to nominate have recognized leading XXX studio Evil Angel with a staggering array of nominations for the 2020 AVN Awards. Ninety total citations acknowledge excellent work by multiple directors in diverse categories.
“This has been an exciting year for Evil Angel,” said studio founder John Stagliano. “We are in the thick of competition with other innovative and interesting porn companies. But again, we fared well in nominations. I am most proud of I Am Riley, directed by Evil Chris, and Consent, my production with Dana Vespoli directing. I love how Evil Angel is nominated for so many different kinds of productions. Thanks, AVN, for recognizing the effort we put into our movies.”
I Am Riley, a XXX documentary profiling top star Riley Reid, follows up I Am Angela, the Angela White documentary that won five awards at the 2019 AVN Awards. I Am Riley earned six 2020 nominations, including Best Star Showcase, Best Editing, Best Soundtrack, Best Double Penetration Scene, Best All-Girl Group Sex Scene and Best Director—Gonzo/Anthology Production.
Director Evil Chris stated, “It’s great to see projects like I Am Riley acknowledged by the critics. It’s especially gratifying to see the talent recognized, because they invest so much more of themselves in these projects than in usual releases.”
The bewitching Elements took five nominations, including Best Cinematography and Best Director—Foreign Production, for Misha Cross.
Commented Evil Angel Chief Creative Officer Evil Chris, “For years, we could see that Misha was special as a performer. It’s satisfying to see her making truly creative, high-end projects, and we can’t wait to see her go further.”
Consent, a hardcore exploration of rough sex and sexual freedom, received three AVN nominations including best Gonzo Production, Best Gangbang Scene and Best Director—Gonzo/Anthology Production, for Vespoli.
Evil Angel has made a specialty of Star Showcases, and AVN nominated five for 2020 Best Star Showcase: Adriana Chechik: The Ultimate Slut 2 and Bridgette B. Spanish Fuck Doll, both by ace director Jonni Darkko; Bad Karma by Chris Streams; Emily Willis: The Anal Awakening by LeWood; and Evil Chris’ I Am Riley. Streams’ Bad Karma, which showcases Karma Rx, earned him a nomination for Best Director—Gonzo/Anthology Production.
Always a leading producer of trans porn, Evil Angel brought home eight 2020 AVN nominations in TS categories. Joey Silvera’s TS NOW!, Jay Sin’s TS Playground and Aiden Starr’s Hot For Transsexuals all took noms for Best Transgender Series. Starr’s Chanel Santini: TS Superstar won recognition in three categories, including Best Transgender Production, and the movie garnered Starr Evil’s fifth 2020 nod for Best Director—Gonzo/Anthology Production.
Prestigious Director Of The Year citations went to three Evil directors: Darkko, Streams and Aiden Riley. That one was Riley’s biggest nomination among an impressive 11 for 2020. In fact, Riley has been featuring “11” in his social media accounts.
