SAN FRANCISCO—Pink and White Productions has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the 2021 San Francisco PornFilmFestival, set to take place online and in person at the Brava Center for Women in the Arts from November 11 to 28.
The $7,000 fundraising goal will cover fees to over 90 participating moviemakers and provide professional closed captioning service, among other needs. Festival director Shine Louise Houston noted that contributor perks include festival passes, commemorative T-shirts and memberships to PinkLabel.tv.
The San Francisco PornFilmFestival launched in 2020, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first public porn screening in the USA, the San Francisco Erotic Film Festival in 1970. Due to COVID-19, the premiere was completely virtual, thanks in part to a crowdfunding campaign that ultimately raised over $11,000 to support the cost of building an in-house livestream platform. This year the event will return as a hybrid in-person and online festival, with two days of theater programming simulcast live to virtual festival attendees, followed by more online programs and on-demand videos. Theater programs will adhere to COVID safety guidelines in accordance with the State of California and the Brava Center for the Arts. Online programs will offer a safe and accessible event for viewers tuning in from around the world.
