She points out Musk’s promise to make Twitter a free speech haven for all users, and how those plans must include performers in the adult industry. With many social media platforms censoring and deplatforming porn stars, Twitter has remained one of the few platforms to allow adult content. DeVille discusses how advertising on Twitter allows herself and other performers to sell the content they work hard to create.
DeVille also offers some solutions that would be helpful, like age verification by requiring users to upload identification documents, and using algorithms that can keep minors away from adult accounts. She also discusses the legality of porn and the end of deplatforming pornographers.
“With Elon Musk being seen as a free-speech champion, I needed to make my voice heard about the censorship of pornography,” she said. “I am grateful that The Daily Beast allowed me to speak my mind and allow me a way to reach out to Elon Musk to please consider free speech for all, including myself and my fellow performers.”
